Give work a boundary

Even without a separate room, a defined place for work helps establish a daily rhythm. Allow space for a screen, notes and cables. Being able to put work away also helps the home remain a place to rest.

Consider light and posture together

Check screen reflections throughout the day. Adjust the desk, chair and display to your own body and vary your posture during long sessions. Try furniture in person where possible, rather than buying by appearance alone.

Think beyond the desk

Notice what appears behind you on video calls. Curtains, rugs and upholstered surfaces can soften a hard-feeling room. Keep frequently used items close by so that visual calm still supports a practical working day.
